A very wet day

Today, whilst the rest of England had snow snow snow, we had.. rain rain rain. Silly Cornwall always gets it wrong!
Despite the rain, Tom and I went on a lovely walk to the woods, it felt a hundred miles from the city center and much more like home!

Whimsical dreams & fairy tales

Quite possibly the most beautiful picture I have ever taken!
This picture is everything I love in a photo, it has: flowers, fur, a vintage tinge and a stunning, natural girl as it's focus. The eye follows the line of the photo very nicely, from the tip of the models fingers, to the arrangement of flowers in her lap and back up to the models face which is sweetly lost in a thought.
Following the edit of this picture, I found it so hard to make anything look quite this beautiful again but I think I have done a good job with the rest of the images which will follow shortly.
Charlotte is only young but she has such promise as a model and, I think, should she choice to take it on as a career when she gets a little older then I imagine she will have a fabulous portfolio to take with her!
This picture found its way into my alternative endings album - well, maybe not all tales have to have a darker ending after all! There was something whimsical about the image which made me feel appropriate that it should be a fairy tale!
The following images were taken on the same shoot - the last has a little Ophelia in the styling; perhaps our fairy tale didn't end quite so sweetly!

Dance

Today I finally got in the studio to start a new project for 2013 - Dance.
This was the first time I have used a studio, as a photographer, in a long time so I think I did quite a good job! I wanted to have a soft spotlight behind the model, which worked well - I wanted the images to be of a dancer before a performance rather than a performance in itself.
We used photos of Swan Lake as our inspiration but I told Charlotte to just do what felt comfortable.
Please, as always, let me know your thoughts on these.
We actually did two shoots today so I shall post again over the weekend with the next session.

Alice Vandy presents FASHIONCHAOS II

Alice Vandy presents chaos and boy did we welcome it!?
This week, I was given the fantastic opportunity to photograph for Alice Vandy's FASHION CHAOS II at Vanilla, Truro, which I was more than happy to do!
Backstage, their was the taste of hair spray in the air and particles of glitter floated freely! Skulls and chains were left unattended on the floor and, draped over the arms of various sofa's, were the beautiful show stopping garments we had all turned up to see!
Camera ready, I eagerly awaited the start of the show and it did not fail to impress! Queen Alice gave us a trippy catwalk with meshed up fairy tale music, flashing lights and lots of colour!

I came along early to get some cheeky backstage pictures in whilst the girls got glammed up for the show. Hair was done by Keeleight Jacqueline Remnant at KJRhairdressing and Laura-Jane Prisk at Hair and Makeup By Laura-Jane and makeup was done by: Aline Kaloudi at Aline.mua and Sarah Bennett at SarahBennettMUA.

Siobhan Hamilton and Poppy Mitchell
Two of the models before the show looking divine!! This event was an excuse for the hair and make-up artists to go wild and it really did look amazing!
The show began with a trippy lullaby tune followed by a mesh up of various songs for the girls to rock their way down the catwalk, which was impressive being how small the space was for them to do so! These outfits were made for the catwalk!
After the show I had one last chance to get the girls looking fierce together in their outfits which I think I managed fairly well! Everyone was very excited so it was great fun for me to photograph.

Lastly, please be sure to check out Alice Vandy's amazing shop here:
and of course her facebook page here:

Thank you lovelies, Mx

Lady of the night

Laura is fast becoming one of my favorite models to shoot with, so versatile and always keen to help my whacky visions come to life!
Last night, Laura joined me as my 'lady of the night'; taking a simple black and white portrait with a little kinkiness thrown in for good measure. We were going for a 'dirty stop out look', a little sexy but overall quite classic (and not at all slutty). To me, these pictures have a hint of the French, Moulin Rouge girls look to it - a little less 'walk of shame' and a little more dancer stepping outside for a fag break!
Laura wore her own lingerie and heels and my Mac.
(Not meaning to promote smoking, the look just did not feel compete without that naughty little stick!!)

Please visit my facebook page to see more of my work: facebook
Also, please do check out Laura's modelling page.

Next week, I will be shooting at the Alice Vandy fashion chaos event in Truro, which I am super excited about!! For now, however, check out the facebook events page (linked above) and keep your eyes peeled for some raunchy beauties!!
